UK Association for Solution Focused Practice

Bringing people together to share solution focused ideas

Imagine the morning after the 2009 conference and you wake up barely able to go about your daily business because you want to send an email to the UKASFP sharing your thoughts about the fantastic day you had.

What would you be writing about, what was it about the conference that made it special, what with excitement, are you planning to put into practice?

And what else.......

Hi Carl

I would wake up and feel inspired by something I had seen or heard about during the course of the conference.Personally I prefer the oportunity to attend workshops as this is where you get an oportunity to see how front line practicionars are implmenting solution focused ideas into there work. I recently did some training with the condition managment programme team in Liverpool and returned to do a follow up day and was bowled over at how they had adapted some of the ideas into there work. If the conference is going to based on workshops this year I would love to see this team offered a slot as I think some people would be interested in there work.

Best Wishes

Cheers Rob,

I'm about to do 2 days training for the CMP team I work for, we have about a dozen new staff so it made sense for me to do the training. I have always been pleased to notice that SF ideas fit very well with the aim of supporting people in managing their conditions and creating possibilities.

I enjoy the inspiring moments too in the conferences, that's a good idea for a theme! It's keeping hold of the moments that I'm interested in focusing on for next years conference!

Thanks mate..

Hi Carl,

You could use the Groups function here for the Conference Planning committee to meet and communicate.

Also I think the conference needs to appear in 'Events'

As for what would I want from the conference - I would like some more creative/interactive stuff to be going on rather than people sitting in rows listening to presentations.

Oh dear I have a horrible feeling that I may have to put something together now ...

Yes it sounds like you've talked yourself into doing a creative session, I'm looking forward to doing something different next time round!

I hope to wake up looking forward to sharing what I have learnt and been inspired by with my two traveling companions Pat and Ron. Each conference has been expanded by their contributions and observations on the way home.

I too look forward to something different each conference and would welcome creative/interactive workshops, that expand more on what we can be doing than on what we do. As I increasingly integrate SF into my life (beyond professional) I am more and more interested in my own resources, skills and talents, as well as others. I am starting to see the link between my belief of my own as well as others potential and accept that I can be an expert of myself. This may seem obvious, but I guess in trying for twenty years not to be an expert, I have perhaps over looked the most important person in my therapuetic relationships, me.

What I know for certain is that I am very much looking forward to the conference and will make sure that I don't forget myself in the preparations.

Sounds an interesting conversation, we'll get the structure of the day together soon and have available slots for presentations and conversations, we may suggest a range of themes however these will only be suggestions.

Thanks Andrew

Good question Carl.

Well for me it would be conversations about sfbt and culture, it would be discussions about the 'politics' of sfbt.... that would be a good morning.
