How the big media players miss the point about solution focusing

Recently the Guardian newspaper mentioned that CBT is a solution-focused approach...ouch.

I think the use of the term soultion-focused is very much lost in translation, at first I intended to reply however there was no comments section available online to respond to and all previous attempts at contacting the Guardian over it's naive view of TT have not been acknowledged.

I have tried in my early Hollywood days of being the National Development Officer to enage in meaningful conversation with the big media companies however my lack of insider networking led to an empty email box and sorrow.

My thoughts at this point are, if we are to engage in conversation through media we have to be smarter than firing pea shooters at the Guardian news press window, we need to be engaging in other various methods of conversation and participation. If we hope to raise awareness of SF practice we should focus more on socially based networks (community groups, online communities such as linkedin and facebook etc). We need to be enagaging directly with the people who could benefit from the approach, allowing true choice of therapies/approaches and not just relying on the the Government to reduce choice based on selected 'evidence' and naive media coverage such as the Guardian.

The work being put into the SFRR will go along way to making SFA a serious contender and the hard work being put into Solution News also helps as long as people know these exist.

We should continue with our quest to get SF articles in household magazines and into the lives of the very people who solution focused approaches benefit, the everyday person. This is based on the hope that the knowledge and competence of the public is regarded as good enough to make a choice when it comes to therpay, because at the moment it seems the choices are not widely known and not given.

Just my views and not that of any other party
